Walker & Hall Waiheke Art Awards 2013 Finalist

M G Walker has been selected as a finalist in the Walker & Hall Waiheke Art Awards 2013 for a collaborative painting with New Zealand artist Ellen Johansen.

Ellen Johansen and M G Walker are interested in ideas of individual and cultural transformation.  Transformation and change are an inevitable part of human experience.

In Metanoia II, the images of human and other mythical beings inhabiting this visual space, appear in a variety of guises.  These may include symbols of power and influence, clothing relating to different historical periods, and individuals at times appearing partially clothed or even completely naked.  In this dreamlike space all are metaphorically "naked" in the face of this law of nature, experienced in all times and places.

The human narrative takes place in an environment which, while indeterminate, alludes to a kind of emotional climate in which the stories of transformation are set.
