Winter Arts Festival 2015 - Queen's Birthday Weekend - May 30, 31 and June 1
This year Ellen Johansen and M G Walker open their studios as part of the Winter Arts Festival 2015 on Waiheke Island with the purpose of supporting Nepal and its people, following the two devastating earthquakes in April and May.
50% of all sales at the artists' Open Studio will be donated to Nepal's recovery and rebuild. To make that possible, the artists have discounted all works on display by 40% to ticketed Winter Arts Festival goers.
Please come and enjoy recent collaborative work by Johansen and Walker and support the relief efforts in Nepal. We look forward to seeing you on the Queen's Birthday Weekend - May 30, 31 and June 1.
The 'Mystery of Entanglements' Series are collaborative works on paper in progress
by M G Walker and Ellen Johansen.
The images honour and draw inspiration from Rabindranath Tagore, the 19th Century Bengali poet, artist and teacher who described 'line drawings of beauty' or 'rooper rekha' . Tagore titled one of his later paintings:
'The Black and White Threads Weave the Destiny of Man into a Mystery of Entanglements'
This is the first collaborative in this series.
